Our Mission & Vision

The mission of the Wells Wesleyan Church is to make disciples of Jesus by loving others and loving God with all that we are. Our vision is to rise up a church that will CHALLENGE, INFLUENCE and IMPACT the southern Hamilton County Region for Jesus Christ.

History of the Wells Wesleyan Church

In the summer of 1907, a man named Henry Early pitched a “Gospel Tent” in the Hamlet of Wells, New York with a concern for those who did not know the Lord. It was with this humble beginning that people’s lives were being changed. A short while later Mr. Early took his tent to the neighboring settlement of Gilmantown and conducted services there with similar results. These folks joined together and started meeting in various locations until they purchased a local saloon and converted it into a church, this was known as the “Mission” in Wells. On January 10, 1935, the group at the Mission organized with 16 members and became the Pilgrim Holiness Church. In February of that same year the decision was made to purchase the Old Catholic church and move it to its present location. It was June 26, 1968 that the Pilgrim Holiness and the Wesleyan Methodist Churches merged to become what is known today as the Wesleyan Church. Today we celebrate a long rich history with those who have sacrificed so that we might continue the work of the Wesleyan Church here in Wells. We also embrace the future with the same determination that our forefathers had to make a difference for God’s Kingdom!
